Quaker wood, the second visit!

Squirrels and Badgers had a perfect morning at Quaker wood today. The children were amazed at how much it had changed since our last visit in March! We had 4 activities to carry out over the morning - flower identification, using nets to collect insects and bugs from the long grass, searching for bugs in the earth and under leaves and pond dipping.

Here are a few pictures to give a flavour of the morning:

Working really well together in groups

Collecting insects with nets

Having a closer look

Pond dipping

Mason found lots of different bugs in the undergrowth

Kellen to the rescue when something got stuck in the pooter which he had to suck out (luckily not an insect!) !!

Isobel was a whizz at identifying what she had found

The boys found a huge spider!!

Thank you to the activity leaders at Quaker wood, the volunteers who came with us and to the children for behaving so beautifully (the leaders were very complimentary of them).
