Right angles!
We have been learning about right angles this week. We went around the school and grounds and found loads!! Some of us managed to find some acute angles ( narrower than a right angle) and obtuse angles ( wider than a right angle).
Here are just a few of the right angles that we found:
Connor found an acute angle in the tree!
The canopy had right angles and acute angles!
The playground had an obtuse angle

House building for the Three Little Pigs!
As part of our materials topic, Squirrels and Badgers joined together for a fun and messy afternoon building houses for the three little pigs! Authentic straw and sticks were used along with Lego for bricks. The children used ingenious methods to make their houses as strong as possible. Ideas ranged from building a house of straw in the corner of the room for extra protection, weaving the straw to make it stronger, carefully stacking sticks of appropriate lengths and intertwining them to following real life brick patterns to give the brick houses even more stability.

Night
We worked together to recall facts about night. Then we had to choose and use the best words in the best places to create a poem.
Owls silently swooping in the night sky,
Smoothly drifting down to grab their prey.
Black and white badgers snuffling in the undergrowth.
Animals quiver and quake as the predator approaches.
Robbers slinking about, up to mischief.
Security guards shining torches and calling in their crackly walky-talkies.
Train drivers controlling the engines. Eating up the dark miles.
Sparkly fireworks sizzling in the inky pitch sky.
Luminous lights leading us to safety.
Hi-vis jackets glimpsed beyond the distant horizon.
Starry constellations guiding you back home.

Carroll diagrams
We have been learning how to use Carroll diagrams for sorting. We sorted ourselves, then sorted shapes and other objects.
Yellow and not yellow, dinosaurs and not dinosaurs.
Blue and not blue, squares and not squares. Then we changed it to four corners and not four corners.
"This is red and not red, vehicles and not vehicles."
"Purple and not purple, dinosaur and not dinosaur."
"Ours is circle and not circle, small and not small."
"This one is red and not red, four sides and not four sides."
