Artists at work.

We did lots of quick sketches of each other in different poses. We first worked on white boards that we rubbed out as they were only rough sketches. It was important to look at shapes and positions of arms and legs or whether different areas of the body were hidden or visible. 

Two poems.

We have read a poem called The Magic Box by Kit Wright. 

We used it to inspire our own poems. We worked in two groups and shared ideas for our finished poems.

Symmetry!

Today we had fun making symmetrical patterns using peg boards, numicon and compare bears. We also completed some really tricky shapes using rulers and counting squares to make sure it was accurate. Some of us challenged each other by making half of a  pattern for a friend to complete and make symmetrical! We used mirrors to check that our reflections were correct! 

Winter

White and frosty.

Delicately, brightly, gently.

Sparkling, glinting, scraping, shivering.

Signs of Winter.

We went outside this morning to look for signs of winter. 

We had to dress warmly.

Then we looked for plant life and what it looked like. We saw the big bare trees and muddy ground where the grass was not growing. 

We took rubbings from the winter bark.

Some trees had needles on them.

A few bushes had leaves, they are evergreen.

We saw one lonely red berry.

The sky was grey and dull. We drew icy, cold pictures.

Our fingers got red and our noses sniffed! 

We needed to run about to get warm.

The temperature was 8 degrees centigrade.

Share and share alike.

This morning we were doing some division practically. We were reading sums and sharing into groups and sets to solve the sums.

We realised it is quite similar to multiplication.

"I shared 20 into 4 groups of 5"

"I shared 20 into 5 groups of 4"

"This is 6 groups of 3 and also 3 groups of 6"

"I had 16 bears. My bears are shared into 4 groups of 4"

"We shared our 25 counters into 5 groups of 5"

"We had to get 18 counters, first we shared them into threes. Then we shared them into 3 groups"
